Petit Brézouard

Petit Brézouard is a mountain summit in the Brézouard massif located in the Vosges Mountains of northeastern France. It rises to 1,203 meters and shares its location across two communes, with the larger portion toward Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines.

The mountain formed through ancient tectonic movements that shaped its two-mica granite structure over millions of years. This geological history gave the massif its current character and contributes to the landscape hikers experience today.

Local people in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines traditionally call this mountain Brüschbückel, a name referring to the heather that once covered its slopes. You will still hear this old name from hikers and longtime residents who know the area well.

The summit is accessible via multiple hiking trails that depart from nearby villages like Le Bonhomme. Good walking shoes and adequate time are essential, as sections of the route can be steep and rocky.

This summit remains less crowded than neighboring peaks in the region, offering a quieter hiking experience for those who explore it. Many visitors overlook it in favor of more famous destinations nearby.
