Tête-des-Faux Battlefield

Tête-des-Faux Battlefield spans two municipalities in the Haut-Rhin region with military fortifications positioned across mountainous terrain. The site preserves trenches, dugouts, and bunker remnants from World War I combat.

The battlefield saw intense fighting during World War I, notably a major attack on Christmas night 1914 by the 14th Light Infantry Battalion. This position remained a key defensive line in the Vosges mountains throughout the conflict.

The site was officially designated as a historical monument in 1932 and serves as a memorial for those who died in combat. Visitors can sense how deeply these events shaped the region's identity.

The site is accessible via marked hiking trails that wind through the terrain with information panels along the way. The hilly landscape requires proper footwear and care on uneven ground.
