Cascade du Rudlin

Cascade du Rudlin is a waterfall in the Vosges mountains that plunges from a rocky outcrop into a basin naturally carved by water over time. It sits at roughly 850 meters in elevation within a forested mountain landscape.

The waterfall sits on the traditional boundary between the villages of Valtin and Plainfaing, a natural marker that has long separated these two communities. The water has carved its path through the landscape over thousands of years.

The waterfall is a familiar destination for hikers from the surrounding area who visit it regularly throughout the year. The roar of water falling into the natural pool creates a place where locals pause to appreciate the raw power of nature.

You can reach the waterfall by hiking a steep trail from the parking area near the Auberge, taking roughly an hour on foot. The ground is uneven and often wet, so sturdy shoes and careful footing are important.

The water stream divides into two branches before the main drop, creating several smaller cascade steps. The flow volume changes noticeably with the seasons and rainfall patterns.
