Scenic viewpoint

This scenic viewpoint sits at the highest spot in the village, looking out toward the Luberon massif and Vaucluse Mountains. From this position, you can see the ochre quarries where the rock faces show shades of yellow, red, and purple.

This elevated location dates to the 10th century, when a castle occupied the spot to watch over the surrounding land. Control of this position proved vital for defending and controlling the region.

The ochre colors that surround this place shape how the village looks and feels every day. Houses throughout the settlement reflect these warm tones, creating a cohesive visual identity rooted in the local landscape.

Two marked trails reach this spot: a shorter route taking about 30 minutes and a longer path of around 60 minutes through the ochre landscape. Both ways are clearly marked, and wearing comfortable shoes is recommended.

The ochre quarry walls display an unusual range of colors that shift depending on the time of day and how light hits the rock. Many visitors notice the hues become especially vivid in the late afternoon.
