Pereire Beach

Pereire Beach is a sandy coastal area in Arcachon that stretches for several kilometers along the bay, featuring fine white sand and clear waters overlooking Cap Ferret peninsula. The shoreline is backed by promenades and open spaces that give access to the water from multiple points.

The beach was developed in the early 1900s when Boulevard de la Mer was built to connect the city center with the Le Moulleau neighborhood. This infrastructure opened the area to swimmers and established it as a popular bathing destination.

The beach serves as a gathering place for local fitness groups who practice yoga and tai chi in the early morning hours. These sessions attract both residents and visitors during the summer season, creating a social routine along the wide sandy shore.

Showers, drinking water stations, and free parking areas are available along the beach, with lifeguard service running during summer months. Plan your visit during less crowded times in early morning or late afternoon to enjoy a more peaceful experience.

At low tide, natural pools form between sandbars, creating separate sheltered areas for swimming away from the bay's main currents. These temporary features attract swimmers of all levels and offer opportunities to observe local marine life in shallow waters.
