Parc Mauresque, English garden in Ville d'Hiver, Arcachon, France.
Parc Mauresque is a four-hectare garden in Arcachon with curved pathways that follow the natural slope of the terrain. The grounds contain hundred-year-old trees and around 600 rose bushes distributed throughout the space.
A building called Casino Mauresque once stood in this location, designed as a replica of the Alhambra in Granada with architectural elements inspired by the Cordoba Mosque. It was destroyed by fire in 1977, after which the site became a public garden.
The park functions as an arboretum with rare and exotic plants that visitors encounter while walking the grounds. It also hosts a year-round open-air theater that draws locals and travelers seeking performances in a garden setting.
The park is open daily for visitors and features an elevator connecting the Winter Town to the Summer Town area. A decorative fountain near the elevator helps with orientation as you explore the gardens.
A long corridor leading to the elevator features a colorful ceiling with a carved relief bearing the signature of artist Claude Bouscau. This artistic detail often goes unnoticed despite being a small gallery right at the entrance passage.
