The club was founded in 1991 and originally operated from three restored warehouses dating to 1919. It relocated to its current Clarke Quay site in 2016.
The name "Zouk" comes from Caribbean music culture and refers to a rhythmic dance style celebrated throughout the venue. The space hosts a mix of local and international crowds who move through different rooms dedicated to various music genres and styles.
The club is located directly at Clarke Quay and is easily accessible by public transport. Arriving early on weekends is wise, as the venue fills quickly.
The club ranked number 3 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 Clubs list in 2017, the highest position ever achieved by an Asian nightclub at that time. This recognition established it as an international landmark in the club scene.
