Oasis de Bidderosa, Protected beach in Gulf of Orosei, Italy
Oasis de Bidderosa is a protected nature reserve on Sardinia's eastern coast with five secluded coves, white sand beaches, and emerald waters. The site features diverse coastal landscapes including sand dunes, rocky outcrops, and pine forest that frame the shoreline.
Local environmental groups began protection efforts in the 1980s, leading to official establishment as a nature reserve in 1999 by WWF Italy. This action preserved the coastal area from uncontrolled development and marked a turning point for conservation in the region.
The reserve maintains traditional Sardinian land management practices, integrating nature conservation with controlled tourism access to preserve local heritage.
Daily visitor numbers are limited to 1500 people, making advance booking necessary for entry. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Orosei tourist office before visiting.
Sa Curcurica lagoon sits within the reserve and provides habitat for numerous bird and marine species throughout the year. This shallow water body attracts migratory species during their seasonal journeys.
