Prumirim Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Ubatuba, Brazil.
Prumirim Waterfall is a series of natural cascades in the Atlantic Forest near Ubatuba that creates a chain of rock pools and natural slides. The water drops from level to level, forming swimming areas between each cascade before the final descent.
The waterfall area became protected starting in the late 1900s as part of conservation efforts in the region. The geological landscape was shaped over millennia by water erosion, carving the stone formations visible today.
Local indigenous communities have traditionally regarded the Prumirim Waterfall as a gathering place for celebrations and social interactions.
The site is easily accessible by car with parking available, and marked trails guide you through the forest to the water pools. Wear appropriate footwear since the paths and rocks can be slippery, especially after rain.
One section features a natural water slide carved into smooth rock where visitors can glide directly into a deep pool below. This formation developed over centuries through water flow and remains a favorite spot for swimmers.
