Moulin de la Pannevert, Watermill in Rouen, France.
The Moulin de la Pannevert sits beside the Robec stream and has a large wooden wheel that shows how water power was used to grind grain. The site includes renovated spaces where art exhibitions are held today.
The mill was documented in 1199 through the Coutume des Moulins de Rouen records, when it belonged to the heirs of Morin. Over centuries it underwent changes, and in more recent times it was restored to working condition.
The oak wheel was reconstructed in 1986 by local craftspeople and displays the traditional mechanics that shaped Norman industrial methods. The working systems visible here show how people once harnessed water power for daily production.
The site can be reached via a walking path connecting Place Saint-Hilaire to Darnétal from the city center. Guided tours are available by request and offer insight into how the machinery works.
The grounds host regular art exhibitions in its renovated spaces, giving the mill a second life as an arts venue. This use blends the craft heritage with contemporary creativity in an unexpected way.
