Playa Quieta

Playa Quieta, Pacific beach in Ixtapa, Mexico.

Playa Quieta is a sandy beach in Ixtapa stretching about 300 meters, facing the nearby Ixtapa Island with calm, clean waters suitable for swimming. Natural rock formations at the entrance create shallow protected areas and help keep the water still.

The beach emerged during the 1970s when Ixtapa was transformed from a coconut plantation into a planned resort destination. This change was part of a broader coastal development that reshaped the entire region.

Local food vendors set up along the shoreline to serve fresh seafood prepared daily, offering traditional Mexican coastal dishes prepared right in front of you.

The beach offers free access with parking available near marker 9.7 on the paved bike path. Equipment rentals for water activities are available at stands along the shore.

The rock formations in the shallow water along the shore formed naturally over time and create spontaneous shallow pools without any artificial construction. These geological features are what set this beach apart from neighboring coastal areas.
