Al Sabahi Grills and Seafood is a fish and grilled food restaurant set on a multi-level boat moored on the Nile in the Dokki district of Cairo. The boat has several open and covered dining decks that look out directly over the water.
The restaurant started as a small riverside fish stall in the 1980s before growing into one of the better-known floating restaurants in Dokki. Over the years, the boat was expanded with additional decks to handle more guests.
Ordering at Al Sabahi follows a tradition common in Egyptian fish restaurants, where you choose the fish you want from a display before it is cooked. This makes the meal feel direct and personal, with little distance between the catch and the plate.
The restaurant sits on the Nile in Dokki, a central district that is easy to reach from most parts of Cairo. Evenings tend to draw more people, so arriving early or reserving ahead is worth considering.
