Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park, Open-air ethnographic museum in Chorzów, Poland.
The Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park is an open-air museum in Chorzów containing about 70 historical buildings from various Silesian regions. The structures display traditional rural architecture spanning several centuries and include houses, barns, mills, and churches from different areas.
The museum was founded in 1975 to preserve what remained of traditional rural architecture in the region. It holds buildings such as a wooden church and barns from earlier centuries that document the area's cultural heritage.
The park displays five distinct regions of Upper Silesia through original buildings, farm tools, and exhibits showing how people lived in different villages. Visitors can observe the various ways communities organized their homes and farms across these areas.
The grounds are large and can be explored using tablets that provide interactive information about the exhibition elements. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and allow time for slow walking between the various buildings.
The grounds preserve the last remaining mill from Grzawa, a rare example of Silesian mill architecture. A shepherd's shelter from Brenna still houses real sheep today and displays traditional ways of living.
