Paula Deen's Family Kitchen
Paula Deen's Family Kitchen was a restaurant in Foley that served Southern-style family meals on a fixed-price basis. Guests selected one of three meal options, and the food arrived at the table in large shared portions featuring fried chicken, pork chops, shrimp and grits, fresh biscuits, and a choice of sides like creamed corn and green beans.
The restaurant operated as part of the OWA shopping destination and became known for its family-style Southern dining concept. It closed on January 3, 2024, after which OWA announced plans for a new entertainment venue to open in the same space by summer 2024.
The restaurant featured wheelchair-accessible seating with ramps between two levels and padded armless chairs for comfort. Some tables offered water views, and the location provided convenient nearby parking, though the restaurant has now closed.
A distinctive feature was the no-leftovers policy for main courses: guests could not take remaining food home except for dessert, which emphasized the communal eating experience. This unusual approach made each visit a more intentional, shared meal rather than an individual dining experience.
