Hotel Carlton is a brick building in the Nob Hill area of San Francisco, with yellow window trim and a facade that has kept its late 1920s character. Inside, the lobby has marble floors and an old fireplace, while the hallways are lined with colorful stripes and Arabic lettering.
Hotel Carlton opened in 1927, making it one of the older hotel buildings in San Francisco. Over the decades it passed through different owners and saw some changes, but its original brick structure and layout have largely remained.
The hotel sits in a neighborhood shaped by many cultures, visible in the small shops and cafes nearby. Inside, the decor reflects this mix through Asian, Middle Eastern, and California influences found in the rooms and the Saha restaurant.
