Museo Vostell-Malpartida

Museo Vostell-Malpartida is an art museum housed in a former wool washing facility that spreads across a large space between granite rock formations. The complex displays works by Wolf Vostell, international conceptual art installations, and pieces from Gino Di Maggio's collection.

Wolf Vostell founded the museum in 1976, inaugurating it with a sculpture made from his personal car. The site itself functioned as a wool processing center since the 18th century before being transformed into an art space.

Wolf Vostell's artistic vision shapes how visitors experience this space, with his work defining the character of the permanent collections. The setting merges contemporary expression with the industrial past of the region, creating a dialogue between art and local heritage visible throughout the galleries.

The museum sits roughly 14 kilometers from Cáceres city and is reached by following the N-521 road toward Portugal, then turning toward Malpartida and the former washing facility. Plan enough time to walk through the grounds, as exhibitions spread across the entire property.

The most striking artwork is VOAEX, a sculpture fashioned from the founder's personal Opel Admiral car. Vostell transformed his own vehicle into art, making it a centerpiece of the museum's identity.
