Jupiter Artland

Jupiter Artland

Jupiter Artland is an art museum spanning over 100 acres of meadows, woodlands, and open fields filled with sculptures from renowned artists worldwide. The site features rotating exhibitions in indoor galleries alongside permanent and temporary outdoor artworks created specifically to interact with their natural surroundings.

The estate was founded in 2009 by Robert and Nicky Wilson, who wanted to share their passion for art and make art education more accessible to the public. Artists including Charles Jencks, Cornelia Parker, and Antony Gormley have created works specifically designed for this landscape, redefining the relationship between art and nature.

The name Jupiter Artland draws from the Roman god and planet, reflecting a connection between sky and earth that shapes the art experience at the site. Today, visitors use this space as a place where sculptures and nature blend together, and people are invited to engage with art through touch and movement rather than simply looking from a distance.

The site is located about 10 miles from Edinburgh and reachable by car in approximately 30 minutes, with accessible parking and paths provided throughout the grounds. Comfortable footwear is recommended since some areas have uneven terrain, and the site offers accessible toilets and support for visitors with visual impairments through touch-focused tours.

One of the most striking artworks is 'Love Bomb,' a massive sculpture resembling a strange flower or orchid that immediately catches visitors' attention upon entering the park. Additionally, unsettling sculptures of girls positioned throughout the woods evoke horror film imagery, prompting visitors to feel both curious and cautious as they move through the quiet landscape.
