Bismillah Restaurant & Cafe
Bismillah Restaurant & Cafe is a restaurant in Houston that serves Pakistani dishes alongside burgers, sandwiches, and Asian options like Chinese and Thai food. The space features a clean, welcoming interior with simple decor and offers both dine-in and takeout service.
The restaurant was founded about fifteen years ago by Shah and Nasreen Moghul, who wanted to bring quality food to Houston. Over the years it has grown into a well-known spot in the area, now operating two locations in the city.
The name "Bismillah" comes from Arabic and means "In the name of God". The restaurant serves as a gathering place for the Pakistani community in Houston, where people speak their language and share meals that remind them of home.
The restaurant is located on Hillcroft Street in a busy area with parking nearby. It is closed on Mondays and operates from late morning until evening, but does not accept reservations, so it can get crowded during peak times.
During Ramadan, the restaurant plays a special role by providing space for prayer and offering free treats like pakoras and the popular drink RoohAfza to visitors. Surprisingly, it also has a Muslim ablution area available, an uncommon feature among restaurants in the area.
