Museum of Gdańsk - Main Town Hall, Art museum in Main Town Hall at Śródmieście, Poland.
The Museum of Gdańsk occupies a Gothic-Renaissance building with an 83-meter tower in the Old Town. The exhibitions span multiple floors and present the city's story through artworks, documents, and everyday objects from different periods.
The town hall was built between 1346 and 1492 as the center of city administration. After a fire in 1556, the building underwent major restoration and gained much of its current appearance.
The collections reflect how the city has preserved its bond with maritime trade through paintings and objects that fill the rooms. Walking through, you notice how shipping and commerce shaped what people valued and kept from their past.
Entry is through the main entrance on Długa Street, where you can find information about guided tours in multiple languages. Reduced prices are available for students and seniors.
The bell system in the tower has rung since the 16th century and still sounds at certain times of day. If you visit at the right moment, you can hear this piece of the city's daily life.
