Flugwerft Schleißheim

Flugwerft Schleißheim is an aviation museum housing approximately 70 aircraft within a large exhibition hangar. The collection spans from early gliders and propeller-driven planes to contemporary fighter jets and helicopters.

The museum was established in 1992 as a branch of the Deutsches Museum München, saving the historic airfield buildings from demolition. This preserved a location integral to aviation development in the region.

The site reflects the region's role as a center for aircraft manufacturing and testing in the early twentieth century. Visitors today witness how this legacy shaped German engineering through generations.

The museum is located in a former airfield area and is easily accessible by car with parking available on site. Plan to spend two to three hours to thoroughly explore the exhibition.

A glass-walled workshop allows visitors to watch restoration work directly, where specialists maintain and repair historical aircraft. This visible craftsmanship reveals how complex aviation technology is preserved and renewed.
