The Castle in Janowiec on the Vistula

The Castle in Janowiec is a fortress complex on the Vistula River built on an irregular layout with defensive features like a dry moat and fortified towers. The structure contains several buildings that divide the grounds and emphasize its role as a stronghold.

Construction of the fortress began in the early 1500s under Mikolaj Firlej and remained in his family's hands for over a century. After that period the building changed hands and purposes several times, showing its long presence in the region.
