Clissold Park
Clissold Park is a large green space in Stoke Newington with numerous pathways, ponds, and activity areas throughout. The grounds feature sports courts, a café, small animal enclosures with deer and goats, playgrounds with slides and swings, and water features for children.
The park opened in 1889 after the private estate was converted into public space. Major restoration work in the early 2000s brought significant improvements and earned it recognition as one of the country's finest parks.
The park takes its name from the Clissold family who once owned the estate. Today it serves as a gathering place where neighbors meet regularly to spend time together and enjoy simple outdoor moments.
The park opens around 7:30 am and closes between 5 pm and 9:30 pm depending on the season. Entry is free, and multiple gates provide easy access from surrounding streets throughout the year.
The park has maintained a small herd of fallow deer since the 1890s, cared for by staff to keep them healthy. This rare feature allows visitors to observe wildlife that is not typically found in London parks.
