AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin, Open-air museum in Alt Schwerin, Germany.
AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin is an open-air museum with historic farm buildings, a Dutch windmill, village smithy, rope factory, and cartwright's workshop spread across large grounds. The buildings demonstrate how farming and rural life worked in earlier times.
The museum was established in 1963 and documents agricultural development from 1848 onwards. It traces the story from basic plows to modern machinery and agricultural aircraft.
The Katenzeile cottage street shows how rural workers lived from the 1800s through the 1960s. You can step inside these simple homes and see how daily life in the countryside changed over generations.
The grounds are spacious, so wear comfortable shoes and plan to spend time exploring everything at your own pace. Guided tours can be arranged in advance if you want someone to explain the buildings and machines in detail.
The museum operates a working field railway system and displays specialized vehicles like steam plow locomotives and melioration tracked machines. These machines were once essential for managing large areas and draining wetlands.
