Agroneum, Agricultural museum in Alt Schwerin, Germany.
Agroneum is an agricultural museum spread throughout Alt Schwerin village and connects historical buildings such as manor houses, stables, and workshops. The exhibition displays farming machines and equipment from different periods, allowing visitors to explore the structures and their original purpose.
The museum was established in 1963 and received its current name following a renovation in 2012. The collection documents the development of agriculture over centuries and shows how rural work has changed over time.
The place shows how agriculture shaped life in Mecklenburg and how people once worked with the land. The displayed objects and buildings tell stories of labor, family, and daily challenges in rural areas.
The museum is open from April through October and offers tours for smaller groups plus workshops in traditional crafts. When planning a visit, allow time to walk between buildings since they are scattered throughout the village.
The wrought-iron main gate of the Vollrathsruhe estate, designed in 1890 in the Neobaroque style, won a special prize as a model at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Made in 1893 in the Armbrüster workshop in Vollratsruhe, it stood before the Alt Schwerin manor house from 1964 and was moved to the museum grounds in 2012.
