Archaeological Museum "Pietro Griffo" of Agrigento

The museum exhibits 5,688 artifacts arranged chronologically and topographically across 18 rooms, showcasing findings from prehistoric times to the Greek-Roman period.

The museum building, designed by Franco Minissi in the 1960s, stands on the site of an ancient agora where the villa of Ciantro Panitteri once existed.

The collections include the Ephebe of Agrigento kouros and a Roman sarcophagus from the second century displaying scenes from everyday life.

The museum opens Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with admission fees of €8 for adults and €4 for reduced entry.

The museum houses the white crater vase from 430 BC depicting Perseus and Andromeda, along with architectural clay waterspouts shaped as lion heads.
