Ice Q, Fine dining restaurant at Gaislachkogl summit, Austria
Ice Q is a fine dining venue housed in a glass cube at 3,048 meters elevation, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the Otztal mountain ranges. The structure sits atop Gaislachkogl and consists almost entirely of glass and steel, making the surrounding peaks visible from every seat inside.
The building was constructed in 2013 and gained worldwide attention in 2015 when it served as the Hoffler Clinic location in the James Bond film Spectre. This role in the movie helped establish it as an exclusive destination in the high alpine setting.
The kitchen draws on regional products from the Ötztal valley and presents them with contemporary cooking methods, letting diners take in the surrounding peaks from every angle. The dining spaces feel minimal and understated, with large windows that make the landscape the true centerpiece.
Visitors reach the restaurant via the Gaislachkogl gondola lift, which takes about ten minutes from the valley station below. Warm clothing is recommended since the air at this altitude is considerably cooler than in the valley.
In the wine cellar at 3,000 meters elevation sits PINO 3000, a wine developed specifically for high altitude conditions and aged there under unusual circumstances. This high-altitude maturation gives the wine distinct qualities that cannot develop at sea level.
