Devon House

Devon House is a grand mansion with grounds in Kingston that combines Georgian and Caribbean architectural features. The property includes several restaurants, craft shops, and an ice cream parlor, and tours are offered to visitors.

This house was built in 1881 by George Stiebel, Jamaica's first black millionaire, who made his wealth in gold mining. The building was constructed in an area known for its wealthy residents.

The rooms are filled with furniture and objects from the 1800s, including Jamaican, English, and French antiques arranged as they were in colonial times. Walking through the spaces gives you a sense of how wealthy families lived during that era.

The entrance hall features painted palm trees and specially designed chairs for gentlemen wearing swords. The attic holds a hidden room that was once used for gaming.
