Bayerwald Xperium

The Bayerwald Xperium is a science museum in Sankt Englmar with over 100 experimental stations where visitors can explore natural phenomena through hands-on physical and optical activities. The facility demonstrates different aspects of natural science, from wave mechanics to bridge stability.

The museum opened in 2015 inside a renovated 300-year-old former rectory building located in the center of Sankt Englmar next to the church. The historic building received a new purpose as a place for science education.

The place follows the principle of learning through direct experience, where visitors can touch, smell, hear and actively participate in scientific experiments. The spaces invite you to explore natural phenomena yourself and use your own senses in the process.

The museum is accessible during warmer months from 9:30 to 17:30 and during colder months from 10:00 to 17:00. Plan to spend time exploring the many stations and wear comfortable clothing, as many activities require physical participation.

The museum uses a historic building that long served as a rectory, adding extra depth to the experience. The contrast between the old architecture and modern scientific experiments creates an unusual learning environment.
