Kourion Beach

Kourion Beach is a Mediterranean shoreline with coarse sand mixed with pebbles across the shore and seafloor. The slope of the bottom gradually increases, creating varied conditions for different swimmers.

The location takes its name from the ancient city of Kourion, founded during the Hellenistic period and later flourishing under Roman rule. The settlement remained significant until a major earthquake in the 7th century AD disrupted coastal life.

The beach sits directly below an ancient settlement, and swimmers can observe the ruins of a former city that once thrived on this coastline.

The beach has sunbeds, showers, and changing facilities along with parking areas for visitors. Local restaurants nearby serve seafood and regional cuisine.

The beach experiences regular strong winds that create conditions for surfers, while the shallow waters close to shore appeal to families with young children. This mix allows different groups to pursue their own activities side by side.
