Praia de Odeceixe Mar, Atlantic coastal beach at Aljezur, Portugal.
Praia de Odeceixe Mar is a beach on Portugal's southwestern coast where a river flows into the Atlantic and high cliffs frame the shoreline. The cove has a crescent shape with different water conditions on either side, creating distinct zones for swimming and water activities.
The beach was recognized in 2012 by a national competition as one of Portugal's seven natural wonders in the cliff beaches category. This recognition brought attention to the southwestern coast and its distinctive features.
The northern section of the beach connects to Praia de Adegas, a designated area for naturist activities within the Costa Vicentina natural park.
Access to the beach comes via a road from Odeceixe village, with shuttle services running during summer months. Parking is available near the shore, making it easy to reach the sand.
Natural rock pools form at low tide, creating calm areas for bathing alongside the river mouth. Visitors can experience both crashing waves and sheltered water in one visit.
