Palisade Falls Hiking Trail

Palisade Falls is a 80-foot waterfall that descends vertically down rock faces at the southern base of Palisade Mountain. The site sits within dense forest at 5,600 feet elevation and is located in Hyalite Canyon.

The area was developed as a recreation zone in the early 1900s. The paved trail system came later to make access to the waterfall base easier for visitors.

The location draws hikers and photographers who come to experience the canyon and capture its natural beauty through different seasons.

Access is via a half-mile paved path with wheelchair accessibility and seating areas at the trailhead. The location sits at 5,600 feet elevation, so plan for thinner air and easier fatigue.

During winter months the waterfall freezes into a natural ice formation that attracts climbers. This icy version transforms the vertical rock faces into a popular ice climbing destination.
