Κυπαρίσσι, Village settlement in Laconia, Greece

Kyparissi is a settlement in the Laconia region that spreads across three distinct sections at the base of Mount Parnonas. White buildings sit against the backdrop of the Myrtoan Sea, forming a typical southern Greek coastal village layout.

Until the 1970s, this settlement could only be reached by boat, which kept it isolated and preserved its traditional coastal character. This geographical separation meant that older building styles and community practices remained unchanged for much longer.

The settlement displays traditional features through narrow pathways, painted window shutters, and gardens planted with cypress and fir trees alongside Mediterranean shrubs. These elements shape the daily character and feel of a Greek coastal community.

The location features two beaches with clear waters and pebble shores suitable for swimming and relaxation, called Mikri Ammos and Megali Ammos. Walking through the streets reveals its character, but be aware that some pathways are uneven and certain areas feature steep slopes.

The settlement served as a filming location for the television production "Vardianos Sta Sporka", adapted from a 19th-century Greek literary work. This connection to film and television production adds an unexpected layer to the village's modern story.
