Bunkyo Civic Hall, Multi-purpose hall in Kasuga district, Tokyo, Japan
Bunkyo Civic Hall is a multi-purpose venue within the Bunkyo Civic Center featuring two performance spaces: a main auditorium seating 1,802 people and a smaller hall with 341 seats. Both spaces are designed to accommodate different types of events and productions.
The hall opened in March 2000 as part of a municipal project to build cultural facilities across Tokyo's districts. It was designed from the start to serve as a center for artists and audiences in the area.
The hall serves as a place where residents regularly encounter performances by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and traditional Japanese theater. These events bring people together and allow them to experience different forms of artistic expression in their own neighborhood.
The venue sits about three minutes' walk from Korakuen Station, served by the Marunouchi and Namboku lines. There is parking available on-site, and the hall operates daily during extended hours suitable for various performances.
The main auditorium features adjustable seating arrangements across two tiers that can be reconfigured for different events. This flexibility allows the space to transform based on what is being performed.
