Arheološko nalazište Lovrećina

Archeological site Lovrećina is an ancient settlement with ruins and stone structures spread across a large area beside a sandy beach on Brač Island's northern coast. The remains include foundations, walls, and architectural elements from various periods of occupation.

The early Christian basilica dates to the 5th century and shows this was a center of religious life in the Mediterranean region. The site's layout and preserved elements reveal how this coastal area served as an important settlement for centuries.

Local residents and pilgrims gather each August 10th to honor Saint Lawrence with religious ceremonies rooted in centuries of devotion. This annual gathering reflects how the site remains woven into the spiritual life of the community.

The site is accessible by walking paths from the beach or main road, with informational panels explaining the history in multiple languages. Wear comfortable shoes since the ground is uneven and the paths are exposed to the sun.

The basilica floor contains elaborate mosaics showing the skill of ancient craftspeople who created them piece by piece. These carefully assembled stones offer a rare glimpse into the artistic abilities of that era.
