Dol

Dol is a small stone settlement on the island of Brač, about two kilometers from Postira, featuring traditional houses and terraced farmland. The village is tightly built, with three taverns and numerous old field terraces that shape the landscape.

The village preserves stone beehives from the 16th century, pointing to a long history of beekeeping in the region. A Venetian castle was added later and now functions as a local restaurant.

The residents here maintain traditional crafts like making cargo saddles for horses and donkeys, which have been part of local life for generations. These skills are deeply connected to farming and everyday work.

Visitors will find three taverns on site serving local dishes made with traditional recipes, making it pleasant to rest while exploring. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, as the paths between houses and to the terraces are hilly and sometimes steep.

Although Brač is known as a waterless island, hidden beneath the rocky ground of Dol are two underground lakes about 60 meters deep. These hidden waters are something few visitors know about.
