Plage d'Essaouira

Plage d'Essaouira is a sandy beach that runs along the coast next to the city walls of the medina. The shore has a gentle slope and opens directly to the Atlantic Ocean with a wide expanse of sand.

The beach was part of a fortress system built in the 18th century to defend the city from attacks. Remains of the Borj El Berod fort can still be seen in the area, marking that defensive period.

Fishermen sell their daily catch near the port, and you can watch boats coming and going throughout the morning.

The beach is very windy, which makes it popular for water sports enthusiasts. If you plan to spend time here, bring a windbreaker or be prepared for strong gusts throughout the day.

When the tide goes out, natural rock pools form in the northern section and become accessible on foot. This reveals hidden corners that are normally covered by water.
