Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, Annual festival in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, United States

The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival is a lively outdoor event filled with the aroma of spicy crawfish, the sounds of Cajun and zydeco music, and families dancing and laughing together in a relaxed atmosphere.

This festival started in 1960 to celebrate the town's hundredth anniversary and its deep connection to crawfish fishing, and it has grown into one of the oldest and most beloved Cajun celebrations in Louisiana.

Visitors can watch cooking demonstrations of crawfish etouffee, learn traditional Cajun dances, and listen to local musicians playing lively rhythms that make everyone want to join in and move to the beat.

The festival takes place during the first full weekend in May at Parc Hardy along Rees Street, where tickets are sold at the gate and parking is available nearby for easy access.

Each year a local artist creates a special poster that captures the spirit of the festival, and visitors can buy these colorful designs as souvenirs to remember their time enjoying crawfish and music.

Tourist sites in Louisiana: historic neighborhoods, plantations, and natural areas

Louisiana blends old neighborhoods, plantation houses, and diverse natural landscapes. The French Quarter of New Orleans keeps its 18th-century Spanish colonial architecture, with wrought-iron balconies and lively streets where jazz and the sounds of passersby fill the air. In Baton Rouge, the USS Kidd remembers World War II, while in Lafayette, the Vermilionville Museum celebrates the lives of early Acadian settlers with demonstrations of traditional crafts and cooking. Plantations like Laura or Rosedown open their doors to tell the rich story of the South, with restored outbuildings and gardens where time seems to stand still. Along the Gulf of Mexico, Holly Beach attracts families who come to swim, fish, or collect shells. Everywhere, Louisiana culture is part of daily life, seen in festivals like Mardi Gras with its parades filling the streets, in spicy dishes served in local restaurants, and in the music that accompanies every moment of the day.
