Les Halles de Bacalan

Les Halles de Bacalan is a modern marketplace in Bordeaux with more than 20 specialized shops selling regional food products and delicacies. The open layout of the stores allows visitors to walk between the stalls and discover various items from Southwest France.

The site was once a vehicle storage facility before being transformed into a modern marketplace in 2017. This conversion made it an important location for selling regional products near the cultural center Cité du Vin.

The merchants sell products using traditional French methods, from handcrafted cheese to local wines and truffles from the region. Visitors can watch the daily work of the sellers and learn about the food culture of the Southwest through conversation.

The marketplace is located in a covered area and therefore accessible in any weather. Visitors will find plenty of space to walk and shop, with areas to sit and spend time.

Most sellers work closely with small farms and craft businesses that produce their own goods. This direct connection allows visitors to purchase food often harvested or processed the same day.
