Musée Mer marine, Maritime museum in Bordeaux, France.

The Musée Mer Marine occupies a seven-story building designed by architect Olivier Brochet, featuring 13,000 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to maritime history, art, and ocean science.

Opened in 2019 in Bordeaux's historic port district, the museum reflects the city's centuries-long maritime heritage as one of Europe's most important trading ports along the Garonne River.

The museum houses over 10,000 maritime artifacts including ship models, navigation instruments, and contemporary artworks that explore humanity's relationship with the sea through multiple artistic and scientific perspectives.

Located at 89 rue des Étrangers, the museum opens Tuesday through Sunday with admission at 14 euros for adults, offering guided tours and educational workshops for visitors of all ages.

The museum features a collection of 100-million-year-old fossilized fish from Lebanon's Cretaceous period, marking the first time such specimens have been displayed in France.

Bordeaux, the wine capital and historic gem to explore in France

City of light and stone, Bordeaux tells a piece of French history with every street. From the gilded facades of the 18th century to the redesigned quays along the Garonne, the Gironde capital combines classic elegance with modern dynamism. Strolls can be enjoyed among the columns of the Grand Théâtre, the reflections on the Water Mirror, the streets of Old Bordeaux, and the lively terraces of Saint-Pierre. Here, wine is not just a beverage; it's a culture. The Cité du Vin, museums, and traders remind us that vineyards have shaped the identity of an entire region. Bordeaux is also a forward-looking city, influenced by alternative venues like Darwin, bustling markets, and UNESCO-listed heritage. A city that embodies both tradition and innovation, blending art, cuisine, and river calmness.
