Limburgse Golf & Country Club, Golf course in Houthalen, Belgium
Limburgse Golf & Country Club is a golf course spanning 65 hectares with an 18-hole championship layout that mixes open heathland and pine forest sections. The landscape varies between exposed terrain and shaded woodland, creating different playing conditions throughout the round.
Designer Fred Hawtree created the course in 1966, with the initial 9 holes opening in 1968 and the full 18-hole layout completed in 1973. The facility grew gradually from a smaller nine-hole design into the championship course that exists today.
This course serves as a meeting place for golfers from the Limburg region, bringing together Belgian and international players. People from different backgrounds gather here to enjoy their shared passion for the game.
Visitors should have basic golfing knowledge or experience, as this is an established course with a championship layout. The sandy soil allows for year-round play, though weather and ground conditions will vary with the seasons.
Purple heather blooms transform the landscape from mid-August onward, creating a natural display that changes the entire character of the course. This seasonal display gives the terrain a completely different appearance each time visitors return during this period.
