Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, Golf course in San Roque, Spain
Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande is an 18-hole golf course set across about 45 hectares with the terrain sloping toward the sea. The layout combines natural elevation changes with strategically placed bunkers and offers Mediterranean views from many positions.
The course was designed in 1964 by American architect Robert Trent Jones as his first European project. After more than 50 years of operation, it underwent a full redesign by architects Rulewich & Fleury in 2016.
The club draws golf enthusiasts from around the world and has become a gathering place for competitions and social events over the decades. Visitors experience a blend of international golfing traditions and local Andalusian hospitality.
The course is open daily with on-site equipment rental and restaurant facilities for visitors. Plan ahead by booking in advance, especially on weekends, as availability can vary depending on tournaments and member schedules.
The terrain offers different playing experiences on each round because natural elevation changes and bunker variations create complex challenges. This variability means each round feels new, even for regular players.
