Golf Costa Adeje, Golf course in Adeje, Spain
Golf Costa Adeje sits on former banana plantation land on southern Tenerife's slopes. The course follows natural terraces that step down toward the sea, with many holes offering views across to the island of La Gomera and the ocean beyond.
The course opened in 1998, designed by architect José Gancedo. The layout preserved the original agricultural terraces that had shaped the landscape for generations.
The dry stone walls scattered across the course come from the former banana farming era and show how agriculture once shaped this region. Walking the fairways, these old structures remind you of how people lived and worked here generations ago.
The facility has a large practice area with different tee options and a clubhouse containing restaurants and terraces. Most of the grounds are walkable, though a lift system helps transport players to the lower sections of the course.
A lift system moves golfers and their carts down to the lower playing areas, an unusual solution for the steep terrain. This modern convenience makes playing the lower holes, which sit far below the clubhouse, far easier to manage.
