Old Bar Beach

Old Bar Beach is a wide sandy shore fronting the Pacific Ocean with consistent waves suitable for surfers and kiteboard enthusiasts in most seasons. The beach slopes gently into the water and stretches for several kilometers along the coastline.

A lifesaving club was established at the beach to protect swimmers and monitor conditions during peak summer season. The organization shaped how people use and think of the beach as a safe recreational space.

Local fishers gather at this beach to practice traditional casting and line fishing methods, keeping alive a decades-old coastal way of life that shapes the rhythm of the community.

Driving on the beach requires a permit from MidCoast Council, and access routes begin at Ungala Road and other designated entry points along the coast. Before visiting in a vehicle, check tide times and weather conditions since sand and accessibility change depending on the season.

The beach sits next to Manning Entrance State Park, where wild dunes and protected land meet the ocean in an undeveloped setting. This creates a rare mix where visitors can enjoy both water sports and a more natural shoreline within walking distance.
