Plage de la galère

Plage de la Galere is a coastal beach in Bormes-les-Mimosas featuring a mix of sand and pebbles with gentle slopes into the water. Dense pine forests back the shoreline, creating a natural buffer between the beach and the land behind.

The beach sits near Fort de Brégançon, a fortress with roots reaching back to Roman times that served military purposes for centuries. The fort later became a presidential residence, adding another layer of historical significance to the region.

Fishing remains a visible part of daily life here, with local boats anchored near the shore and fishermen working from the small port area. The practice reflects how this stretch of coast has long served the community's needs.

Access is via a concrete path from a free parking area, though the walk from the lot to the shore takes some time. Wear comfortable shoes and allow extra time to reach the water's edge.

Sections of this beach are designated for naturist use, creating distinct areas with different purposes along the shoreline. Rocky passages break up the sand, adding texture and character to the walking experience.
