Plage des Douanes, Mediterranean beach in Ramatuelle, France

Plage des Douanes is a Mediterranean beach along the coast of Ramatuelle, extending beside the coastal path near the Taillat Peninsula. The shore features varied terrain including fine sand areas, rocky sections, and clear blue waters.

A customs house at the shore edge was built during Napoleon I's reign as part of the continental blockade against England. The structure marks a period when this coastal section served as a frontier zone.

The shore is used by visitors for dog walks and various water activities scattered throughout summer months. The waterfront reflects the relaxed way of life typical of this part of the Riviera.

Access requires about a 30-minute walk from the Escalet Beach parking area, following the coastal trail throughout. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and bring water, since the location is quite remote.

The shore is made up of three distinct surface types: fine sand, pebbled areas, and concrete patches, creating different zones for various uses. This unusual mix of natural and constructed elements shapes the place's appearance.
