The commune extends across 135 square kilometers of land between Saint-Tropez and La Croix Valmer, featuring stone houses and pink-tiled roofs against hillsides.
The settlement's name evolved from Ramatuella during medieval times, deriving from Arabic Rahmatollah, while Moorish rulers controlled the area in the ninth century.

The area contains numerous marked trails for hiking and cycling, connecting the village center to Pampelonne beach and the surrounding wine estates.
