Sentier sous-marin de Banyuls-Cerbère, Marine nature reserve underwater trail in Banyuls-sur-Mer, France
The underwater trail stretches for 250 meters through Mediterranean waters, featuring five observation stations equipped with handrails at depths under 5 meters.
Established as part of the Cerbère-Banyuls Marine Reserve, this underwater path represents France's first completely marine protected area, covering 650 hectares of coastline.
The trail serves as an educational center where visitors learn about Mediterranean marine ecosystems through underwater information panels at each observation station.
During July and August, visitors can rent snorkeling equipment between noon and 5 PM at Peyrefite Beach, located 5 kilometers from Banyuls toward Cerbère.
The five designated observation points allow swimmers to discover different Mediterranean ecosystems while holding onto secure handrails mounted on buoys.
