Archéovillage, Archaeological theme park in Saint-Laurent-Nouan, France.
Archéovillage is an archaeological theme park spanning about 12 hectares of woodland with full-scale reconstructions of settlements from the Paleolithic through the Gaulish period. The site displays how people lived and constructed their dwellings across different historical phases.
The park was initially founded by an archaeological association in 1988 at Muides-sur-Loire and relocated to Saint-Laurent-Nouan in 2002. This move allowed the project to expand and develop further on its new site.
Visitors participate in workshops where they practice ancient crafts and learn how people from different eras conducted their daily lives and work. These hands-on experiences make it possible to understand the practical reality of historical periods directly.
The park welcomes school groups year-round and offers guided tours, educational programs, and summer camps for children and teenagers. Visitors should plan for walking paths through the wooded grounds and bring appropriate clothing for outdoor conditions.
A special area of the park recreates the specific plant environments of each historical period up to the protohistoric oak forest. This paleoenvironmental zone lets visitors see the natural landscape that existed in different eras.
