Orzeł i Krzyż
Orzeł i Krzyż is a large-scale outdoor historical performance at Park Dzieje near Murowana Goślina, spanning around 44,000 square meters (11 acres) and staging Polish history through live action. More than 300 volunteer performers portray over 1,500 historical figures in a show lasting about an hour and a half, featuring horses, special effects, and dramatic scenes.
The show traces Polish history from the legendary origins through the foundations of the state, covering pivotal moments including Hussar cavalry campaigns and Swedish invasions. It extends through periods of partition, struggles for freedom, and concludes with the regaining of independence and the Solidarity movement.
The name "Orzeł i Krzyż" translates to Eagle and Cross, symbols rooted in Polish identity and heritage. The show engages hundreds of volunteers who bring historical figures to life through their performances, creating a living connection between past and present for audiences.
Plan your visit for dry weather and bring warm clothing since evening performances can get chilly; rain ponchos are available on site. Free parking is available at the grounds, and special train fares from Poznań make getting there convenient for visitors.
The show combines historical reenactment with modern special effects including pyrotechnics and water projection mapping to bring events to life in vivid ways. The integration of hundreds of horses and animals alongside dramatic lighting creates an immersive experience that goes beyond typical theatrical presentations.
