Vélorail électrique des Fades

This 7-kilometer electric railbike journey follows an old railway track through three tunnels and crosses the famous Fades Viaduct, offering spectacular views over the Sioule valley and Lake Fades.

The route utilizes a former railway line built in the early 20th century, featuring the Fades Viaduct which was constructed between 1901 and 1909 and stood as the world's highest bridge at 132.5 meters when completed.

The facility showcases Auvergne's industrial heritage while promoting sustainable tourism through eco-friendly outdoor recreation that combines leisure with education about regional railway history and engineering achievements.

Reservations are required and can be made online or by phone, with operating seasons from April to October, daily departures in summer, and electric assistance making the experience accessible to all fitness levels.

The longest tunnel extends over 300 meters and provides natural air conditioning during summer months, while the electric assistance system allows visitors to enjoy the scenery without excessive physical effort.
